The Guide states that Saarland providers also play in the first logistics league on the international scale. "With this comprehensive guide on all players of the branch, Saarland takes the role of a pioneer. In scarcely another German State, such a branch-specific publication is presently available", said Joachim Kiefaber, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economics and Science and Board Chairman of gwSaar, on Monday at the presentation of the Guide in Saarbrücken.

Published in German and English, the Guide not only contains company profiles but also contact details and contact persons. It gives an overview on all services offered by the branch. From institutions and firms of the consulting, educational, qualification, planning or implementation sectors to providers of logistics sites, services concerning infrastructures, warehousing, or transportation - the appropriate addresses can be found at the Saarland Logistics Guide. The Guide is being continuously updated and is also online available through the website of the Saarland Logistics Initiative www.logistik.saarland.de.

Based upon a comprehensive research done by FITT Fachhochschulinstitut für Technologie-Transfer an der Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes (HTW), the guide was established by order of the Saarland Logistics Initiative. The Saarland Logistics Initiative is managed by gwSaar Saarland Economic Promotion Corporation.

Convincing Arguments for Investors - Saarland Scores with Infrastructure and Knowhow
Germany is world champion in logistics. And the Saarland Logistics Guide shows how much Saarland knowhow is involved in winning this title. "Many successful new company settlements speak for the locational advantages Saarland offers to the logistics branch. Besides a central geographical position within Europe, the linkage of logistics and information technology is an important locational asset. The Logistics Guide of the Saarland Logistics Initiative contributes to a further amelioration of the growth perspectives", so State Secretary Kiefaber. "For investors, the Guide is a good opportunity to get convinced of the Saarland´s locational assets and the quality of Saarland providers", he said.

"With the Saarland Logistics Guide, we are always having with us the whole branch during events in Germany and abroad to inform on local businesses and the location Saarland alike", he said.

According to Prof. Klaus-Jürgen Schmidt of the Institute for Production and Logistics Systems, the publication of the Saarland Logistics Guide is a "good example of the excellent networking between private businesses and research in Saarland." Not only structural conditions but also the availability of well-trained skilled personnel were essential factors in the site selection process, he said. "Also in this regard, Saarland has set standards by the deepening studies in logistics at the HTW. Additionally, a bilingual Master studying course in logistics is offered at the German-French Institute at the Saarland University. This studying course is offered in cooperation with the university in Metz", Schmidt said.
