The Friedrichshafen automotive supplier ZF has won a new client for its new eight-gear automatic transmission. From the beginning of next year, the ZF plant in Saarbrücken will produce eight-gear automatic transmissions for the automotive manufacturer Chrysler.
Parallel to this, a new ZF plant shall be built in the USA from the year 2013, producing the gears for Chrysler and other U.S. manufacturers. At the same time, Chrysler is licenced to produce additional automatic gears by its own from 2013.
The ZF Getriebe GmbH in Saarbrücken is the only ZF plant in Germany producing the eight-gear automatic transmissions.
