December 2009 • IT-Land Saarland: Germany´s Highest Research Award Goes Again To A Saarbrücken Computer Scientist
As recently announced by the German Research Society (DFG), Joachim Weickert, Professor for Mathematics and Informatics at the Saarland University, has been awarded with the Gottried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize for his research of excellence in the area of mathematic image processing. The Leibniz Prize is the most endowed award that is regularly presented to scientists in Germany. For his research, Joachim Weickert receives 2.5 million Euros. >> more
June 2009 • Saarland in the Focus of German Science
In 2009, summer will again turn into a Science Summer for one week, this time in Saarbrücken, the capital of Saarland. On Saturday, June 20, Annette Schavan, the Federal Minister of Education and Saarland´s Prime Minister Peter Müller started the Science Summer in Saarbrücken.
-Wissenschaft im Dialog- (WiD) organizes the Science Summer from June 20-26, 2009 together with several research institutes from Saarbrücken. In the big tent exhibition on the Tbilisser Platz, selected regional research institutes are showing their work. Special highlights: The exhibition train "Expedition Future" stopped at Sarbrücken from June 20-22. The science ship will anchor on the Saar River until Wednesday, June 24
