Peugeot, market leader in the Saarland for conventional drive technology, is providing the automobile network automotive.saarland with the first mass-produced electric car in Europe. The handover of the Peugeot iOn took place on Tuesday, December 21st at midday in front of the state chancellery.
Armin Gehl, Director of automotive.saarland, is very pleased with Peugeot’s involvement. “We are very much looking forward to seeing for ourselves the suitability of this electric car, which has already been awarded several prizes, for everyday use”. The vehicle will be used in daily business visiting automobile industry locations around the Saarland.
The iOn, which has a length of only 3.48 metres, is driven by a 47 kW (64 HP) and 180 Nm electric motor. This compact electric car, with four doors and four seats as well as a full car boot, is ideal for urban conurbations (length: 3.48 m, width: 1.47 m, wheelbase 2.55 m, turning circle: 9.0 m). It is intended primarily for authorities and companies, but also for private customers. The i0n is quiet and also safe, comfortable and user-friendly with the battery pack located in the underbody – all making mobility in the city a new, sustainable experience thanks to a range of 150 kilometres and a top speed of 130 km/h.
