In Saarbrücken, the capital of Saarland, companies will find an outstanding IT research community. Apart from the University of Saarland, two Max Planck Institutes, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), and two clusters of excellence are dominating the location. 400 IT companies with over 10,0000 employed deliver cutting-edge technology. `Already now, Saarland research findings are of essential relevance to IT security. Here, internationally-oriented research of excellence and the high demands of German data security are linked up `, explains Markus Frey, Director of Communications at the Competence Center Computer Science.

But also in the future, Saarland will have to offer much with regard to security. So, one of the three German Competence Centers for IT Security is just being built up in Saarbrücken. At the `CISPA-Center for IT Security, Privacy and Accountability`, five groups of scientists will develop solutions for the basic problems of IT security in the digital society. One focus is set on the development of safe and reliable computer systems and networks. Moreover, methods and technologies to better protect the privacy of users and companies on the Internet shall be explored, along with the search for solutions to enable individual and corporate users to move on the Web while data protection is safeguarded. An aspect which - mainly due to the increasing use of clouds and mobile data devices such as smartphones - is gaining more and more importance.

Even beyond this, the location offers best conditions for investors. With a growth rate of 4.7%, the Saarland had been one of the most crisis-proof German States in 2010. An excellent infrastructure, short ways in administration, fast approval procedures and attractive commercial and industrial sites guarantee the success of corporate relocations.
